General Undergraduate Scholarships
To attract top students, the University of Alberta offers more than CAD$25 million in undergraduate scholarships each year.
These award competitions require you to complete a separate scholarship application.

Scholastic Distinction (Entrance Citations) for International Students
Field of Study: Open
Value: Variable from $15,000 - Payable over four years

Conditions: Awarded annually to students on study permit who are entering an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta from high school on the basis of top academic standing in grades 10, 11, and 12. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.
Application procedure: Apply online through the online award application site or Bear Tracks. The deadline to apply and receive all supporting information—including references and transcripts—has been extended to 11:59pm Tuesday, March 5, 2013. At the time of application, students must have applied for admission to a degree program at the University of Alberta. You will receive a CCID and password when you apply for admission and must use this to access the awards application.
Transcripts showing all completed courses and grades to date must be submitted with your application for admission (see Documentation). Make sure you send final or interim transcripts well before the award deadline.
If interim transcripts are not available by the deadline, please contact the Student Awards Office at awards@ualberta.ca. If transcripts are received by the University of Alberta after the deadline, students will not be considered eligible for this award. Please do not send copies of your transcripts to the Student Awards Office.
References must be completed and submitted online through a secure site. Scholastic Distinction (Transfer Citations) for International Students

Conditions: Awarded annually to postsecondary students on a study permit who are transferring into an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta based on top academic achievement in grades 10, 11, and 12 and on coursework completed at the postsecondary level. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

Selection based on leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities and academic standing.

University of Alberta Global Citizenship Scholarship for IB Diploma International Students

Value: Tuition and $16,000 to a maximum of $40,000 per year for four years

Conditions: Awarded to student(s) on Study Permit(s) with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta. Selection based on International Baccalaureate Diploma academic standing, demonstrated financial need, and demonstrated leadership. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year. Students may not receive any other University of Alberta entrance awards or scholarships.
Recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to receive any other entrance awards.
Application procedure: The 2013 Global Citizenship Scholarship Competition has now closed. Applicants will be notified of the results at the end of April.
University of Alberta Global Citizenship Scholarship for IB Diploma International Students from the Aga Khan Academy
Field of Study: Open
Value: Tuition and $16,000 to a maximum of $40,000 per year for four years
Quantity available: One
Conditions: Awarded to student(s) on Study Permit(s) from Aga Khan Academies operating under the AKA agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, with superior academic achievement, entering the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on International Baccalaureate Diploma academic standing, demonstrated financial need, and demonstrated leadership. Receipt of funding for the second, third and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year. Students may not receive any other University of Alberta entrance awards or scholarships.
Note: Students applying to begin their studies in September 2013 must be students at the AKA Mombasa campus in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

University of Alberta International Baccalaureate Diploma Scholarship
Field of Study: Open
Value: $2,000 or $4,000
Quantity available: Variable
Conditions: Awarded to International Baccalaureate Diploma graduates with superior academic achievement entering or transferring into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the full IB program.
Application procedure: Automatic consideration upon admission to the University of Alberta and receipt of final International Baccalaureate transcripts.
International Advanced Placement Scholarship
Field of Study: Open
Value: $2,000 or $4,000
Quantity available: 50
Conditions: Awarded annually to students who have superior academic achievement and Advanced Placement Scholar standing (as defined by the College Board) who are entering their first undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta and studying on a Study Permit. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the Advanced Placement program.
Transcripts must be received in the Registrar's Office by August 1.
Application procedure: By nomination from the University of Alberta Registrar's Office.
International A-Level Scholarship
Field of Study: Open
Value: $2,000
Quantity available: up to 16
Conditions: Awarded to student(s) on Study Permit(s) with superior academic achievement entering the first year of a University of Alberta undergraduate degree program. Selection based on academic achievement on a minimum of three courses taken at the A-level and/or AS-level.
Application procedure: Automatic consideration upon receipt of A-Level transcripts. Offers will be sent out in December.
International Student Scholarship

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement entering into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement. Should a renewable scholarship be offered, receipt of funding for the second, third, or fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship Competition

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta with less than 24 IB, AP, or A-Level credits. Campus Saint-Jean International Scholarship

Selection based on academic achievement. Preference given to students who have not received other University of Alberta awards in the same academic year.
