Documentation

Transcripts and test scores supporting your application should be submitted as soon as possible. No admission decisions are made until all required documents are received.

Documents issued in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by notarized English translation with the original documents.

 

For Early Admission...

For Final Admission...

E-documents (scanned documents) will be accepted from high school applicants for Early Admission consideration, but official documentation must still be submitted to UAlberta by the document deadline for Final Admission. Official documentation must be sent directly from the issuing high school, postsecondary institution, government, or organization.

Photocopies will not be accepted. We will accept a certified copy if the issuing institution only produce one official copy and will not send additional copies to universities. (see Notes below)

What do I need to send?

High School Applicants
  • A high school transcript showing any completed courses and grades, plus interim (midterm) results for courses still in progress
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency, either a passing score or a scheduled test date

Postsecondary Transfer Applicants

  • Transcripts for your entire academic record, including high school transcripts and final transcripts for all previously completed postsecondary work
  • For the current year in progress, submit first semester results and proof of second semester registration
  • Evidence of English language proficiency, either a passing score or a scheduled test date
High School Applicants
  • One official copy of your high school certificate/diploma and a transcript of your grades
  • One official copy of proof of English Language Proficiency

Postsecondary Transfer Applicants
Submit transcripts from all institutions attended, regardless of how long you attended or whether you completed all courses.

  • One official copy of your high school certificate/diploma and a transcript of your grades
  • Two official copies of your college or university transcripts
  • Two official copies of course descriptions for all postsecondary coursework completed outside of Canada
  • One official copy of proof of English Language Proficiency

When should I send my documents?

  • Documents (including scanned e-documents) should be sent as soon as possible after you apply online.
  • Official documents must be received before the document deadline, normally:
    • August 1 for high school applicants
    • June 15 for postsecondary transfer applicants

Remember to include your name and 7-digit UAlberta ID number in all correspondence.

Notes:
  • Certified copies can be authorized by one of the following: your high school, university or college; a notary public; a ministry of education office; or the Canadian Embassy.
  • In the event that a certified copy is presented, the original document must be presented for verification upon your arrival on campus.
