Although not technically a "campus," the U of A Calgary Centre is located in the heart of downtown Calgary and houses staff from Augustana Campus, University Relations, the faculties of Engineering and Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Alberta School of Business. Its purpose is to engage the 20,000+ Calgary-area alumni, learners, prospective students, donors and other University supporters, serving as the "front door to the U of A" to the Calgary community. Building on the goodwill from wartime contributions of Canadians, UAlberta classics professor and archaeologist Helena Fracchia began excavating near the current location of our archaeology field school in 1992. The relationship with the town of Cortona grew, and now liberal-arts courses are open to students in all faculties at this campus.
